Bem Casados, Brazil
Bem Casados, which means 'happy marriage' in Portuguese, is the traditional cake served at Brazilian weddings. Two mini sponge cakes combined with a cream sauce made of caramel, egg curd, or jam in the middle. Each piece of cake is wrapped and tied with ribbon, and given as gifts to the guests at the end of the party.

Kola Nuts, Nigeria
In the Igbo tribe in southern Nigeria, kola nut is generally used for medicinal purposes. Food that contains high in caffeine is chewed to alleviate hunger and provide energy intake. Kola nut is also often used as a bridal dowry. During the wedding, this nut also served as a symbol of the ability of couples to resolve differences in their marriage. In fact, a marriage in Igbo is not complete until the kola nut is shared between the bride and groom and their parents.

Rice Ball Soup, China
In China, there is a belief that the couple must provide the tang yuan or sweet rice ball soup on their wedding day, to ensure the wedding runs sweet and smooth. But couples should not chew the rice ball as it will damage the smooth round shape. They have to swallow it round to get lucky.

Jordan Almonds, Greece
These almonds coated with sugar are traditionally served on the wedding day in Greece and other areas in the Mediterranean. Similar to British customs, traditional Irish wedding cake is also made from fruits and nuts.
