Clitoris in women is one organ that has the sensitivity and sexual arousal is high. At a constant stimulation can cause pleasure incomparable (orgasm clitoris).

But sometimes the woman does not feel or reduced clitoral sensitivity. This could be due to excess tissue cover (foreskin) of the clitoris. The reason is congenital, not the opening of the foreskin clitoris, obesity or aging factors.

Is it the same with female circumcision?

One way that can be done to restore sensation and sensitivity of the clitoris is the clitoral foreskin downsizing performing surgery (clitoral hood reduction, also known as the clitoral hoodectomy). These actions are similar to action on male circumcision. But action is not action circumcision clitoral hoodectomy in women. World Health Organization (WHO) does not recommend circumcision performed on women especially by cutting the entire area of the clitoris and labia as is done in north Africa. In Indonesia, the action on infant circumcision of women is by piercing the clitoris with a needle. That cause pain and can cause bleeding and infection. This is an action that is not quite right because the goal of opening the foreskin cannot be met simply by piercing with a needle and just hurt your baby!

Basically the skin is different from a woman's clitoris foreskin penis foreskin in men. Foreskin does not cover the total female clitoris. The function is as a protective barrier of the clitoris so it does not need to be eliminated. However, in 50-60% of women sometimes there is excess tissue covering the clitoris. Excess not on the foreskin primary but secondary to the foreskin at the top and side (lateral), originated from the apex of the clitoris to the labia minora. The excess of this network would interfere sensation and sensitivity to the sexual stimulation. To overcome this problem needs to be downsized so that the clitoris foreskin will look much better in cosmetics and also improve access to the stimulation to the clitoris itself. In cosmetic surgery sex organs, often the clitoral hood reduction actions done in unison with labiaplasty or Vaginoplasty to increase female sexual response.

Clitoral hoodectomy is an act that can be done in a day care (one day care). Patients can go home the same day after the action. Duration of the procedure ranges from half up to two hours depending on whether combined with other measures. Patients can perform light activity after that. Intimate relationships can be done after 6 weeks postoperatively.
